Renowned Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi on Wednesday night revealed why the National Super Alliance (NASA) could lose the Presidential election petition they intend to file at the Supreme Court against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.
Speaking on Citizen TV‘s JKL Live show, Ahmednassir noted that NASA had a difficult case to prove to the court that extra votes had been added to the incumbent.
Grand Mulla, as he is popularly referred to, compared the 2017 petition to the 2013 petition (in which he was representing the IEBC), stating that the case was much simpler but the then Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) lost.
“In 2013, Raila Odinga had a simple task to show and satisfy the court that the incumbent got an extra 7,000 votes but he was unable to.
“In 2017, the Supreme Court will give Raila a simple task to show and satisfy the Judges that Uhuru got an extra 1.4 Million votes. It is that simple it is that difficult,” the senior counsel stated.
According to Ahmednassir, it will be difficult for NASA to prove that this happened and alluded to the fact that the opposition might be disappointed just like they did in 2013.
“They will be disappointed again if they wait for the Supreme Court to give them what they want to be given. They will face a difficult case,” he stated.
