A school bus belonging to St Augustine school in Mombasa crushed a pupil to death on Friday morning at Majengo.
According to witnesses at the scene of the accident, the bus hit a bump and part of its base collapsed, causing the pupil's seat to cave in. The boy was then crushed by the tyres and died on the spot.
It's alleged that the base of the bus was rusty and could barely hold the weight of the occupants. His sister, who is in Standard Two at the same school, was in the bus when the incident happened.
The bus driver and his assistant escaped after the incident.
