A crisis is looming at the National Super Alliance (NASA) after Ford-Kenya Leader Moses Wetang’ula on Sunday declared that he was the best candidate to succeed their current head Raila Odinga.

Speaking at Christ the King Catholic Church in Bungoma town, Wetangula explained that he would vie for the presidency in 2022 following Odinga’s declaration that he would not seek the presidency again.

“I sacrificed my ambition to support Raila in the just concluded elections for the sake of opposition’s unity. This was despite having launched my presidential bid.

“But because he won’t vie for the bigger seat, I will go for it in 2022,” Wetangula stated.

The Bungoma Senator elect noted that he was ready for the Presidency as he had previously served in different capacities as an elected leader and Cabinet Minister.

His announcement could break the opposition’s unity since his other co-principals; Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi had also expressed their interest for the seat in 2022.

Last month, Kalonzo announced that in 2022 it must be him on the ballot without any contention.
