Igembe South residents have elected the youngest Member of Parliament in the history of Kenya.
John Paul Mwirigi, 24, is the incoming Member of Parliament for Igembe South.
Mwirigi, who is an orphan, ran as an independent candidate beating Jubilee Party’s Joseph Miriti Mwereria who came second.
Meru County also produced the youngest Member of Parliament in the 11th Parliament in Boniface Kinoti Gatobu.
Gatobu was elected in the 2013 election at the tender age of 26 representing Buuri constituency.
