“She was prevented from boarding.” “She was going to New York.” “Still at the airport,” a source at JKIA told journalists. 

Reports indicate that it took the intervention of the US Embassy in Nairobi for her to be released from police custody and transferred to the Government pavilion at JKIA. 

There was also fear that Akombe may be working with NASA leaders and her flight to New York came at a time that NASA was filling a petition at the UN headquarters in New York to oppose the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta. 

However, it turned out that she did not have permission from the Head of Civil Service to leave town.
