Wednesday, May 31, 2017 was a historic day for Kenya as President Uhuru Kenyatta officially launched the Madaraka Express train after the completion of the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway.

Uhuru in the company of his wife, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, and other government officials boarded the train from Mombasa to Nairobi, to officially launch its operations. 

The train was highly guarded by Kenya's most disciplined forces. 


There were seven choppers hovering above the train from Mombasa to Nairobi, chase cars cruising along Mombasa road at the speed of the train and armed security personnel dotted along the railway line. 

Deputy President William Ruto could be seen at stopovers made by Uhuru to address residents making many Kenyans think he was in the train too.

However, DP was actually not in the train and this was.....
